Matalan Sale and Leaseback

Fashion and homeware retailer Matalan is on the hunt for a buyer for its headquarters located on Knowsley Industrial Park. This is one of the steps the company is taking to bolster cash reserves in an effort to weather the Covid-19 storm.

The 132,0000 sq ft office was purchased by Matalan in 2018 in a deal with the previous owner, Tritax Big Box Reit.

The building has an asking price of £28.5m and Matalan is seeking to sign a new lease before completion, securing operational occupancy of the building without any disruption.

The lease length is unknown at this stage, but we would anticipate a long, institutional-type lease, allowing Matalan to continue to occupy the building without interruption.
